FDA RECALLS OREO FUDGE CREMES DUE TO MILK ALLERGEN

Comments Off

Oreo cookies are under recall nationwide because they are incorrectly labeled – the cookies might contain milk, an allergen that’s not listed among its ingredients.  The recall has been ordered for original and mint flavors of Oreo Fudge Cremes cookies.  The popular sandwich cookies were recalled after an FDA inspection found that they were manufactured on equipment that processes milk, potentially exposing them to the common allergen.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.  As of the Friday posting of the recall notice on the Food and Drug Administration’s website, one allergic reaction had been reported in the United States or its territories, where the Oreo cookies were distributed.

The Oreo cookies recall is voluntary.  According to the warnings from the official FDA listing, the Oreo cookies recall is something that the company, Mondelez Global LLC, issued due to being cautious.  The following products are being recalled:

  • Oreo Fudge Cremes, Original variety (11.3 oz. package) with the UPC number 044000026943 and any of the following “best when used by” dates, which are on the bottom left corner on the back of packages:
